The 2020 coronavirus pandemic has impacted all aspects of life in America, as millions who have been hospitalized with COVID-19 and others partake in social distancing in fear of contracting the virus. This fear has carried over to the aviation industry, many aspects of which have been severely impacted by this outbreak.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Recommendations for future research and guidelines for airlines and airports are presented on this page. NASA’s aeronautics research has always been responsive to the needs of the aviation industry and will continue to support the industry through the COVID-19 pandemic. Different areas of research should be emphasized in order to better respond to the pandemic. Furthermore, health guidelines and possible plans for airlines to protect their customers and their own economic interests are outlined as well.

PROJECT REPORT

After gathering data and analysing trends, the team wrote a report outlining their research. It covers the pre-pandemic conditions of the aviation industry and the impacts of COVID-19 on the industry. Furthermore, it compares the COVID-19 pandemic to previous crises and outlines recommendations for the future.
